Miss & Mrs Vietnam-US Globe Beauty Pageant
Caesar's Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey
Saturday, August 31, 2013
There are 19 Miss (ages 18-29) and 11 Mrs. (ages 30-50) contestants in the final beauty pageant held at Caesar's Casino in Atlantic City. All contestants must be unmarried. The crowned Miss Vietnam-US Globe Beauty Pageant will represent the Vietnamese Americans to take part in the international beauty pageant in Turkey. The contestants are scored by a panel of 12 judges. Both groups of contestants wear "Ao Dai" and evening gown. Only the Miss group will have to take part in a "swimsuit" competition. After that elimination round, the top 6 of Mrs. group and top 5 in Miss group are selected for the final round questions and answers. Some of the questions in Miss group are: "Who do you think the most influential person in the world and why?" and "What would you do if you won 550 million dollar jackpot?" and "What one thing you would take with you if you were suddenly stranded in the desert?" and "What would you do if you were elected president of the United States?", etc. The funny thing to note is this...one of the MC holds a very plain bare "bread" basket, which holds the questions. My guess is that they forgot this part so they just grabbed any available basket would do.
Almost all Miss contestants chose to answer in English; all Mrs. contestants answered in Vietnamese. (Jim Huynh)
